I’ve been doing a lot of research and have decided that a cockatiel is the right bird for me. What is the initial cost of the bird/cage/toys/food, etc?
Usually I would say a little under $300, which is around the initial cost, but really I have no idea. Because I don’t live around your area. The best way to determine what the cost is, is by actually going into pets stores or online stores and see how much the cost of the toys, cages, food and bird is. Than add on the taxes so you can have a better estimate ( or exact) cost.
here are some sites that you might want to look at to determine.

You could also go look at second hand stores for bird cages if you don’t like the pricing. Just remember to clean the cage thoroughly so it doesn’t harm your bird from existing mites and other stuff.
I would strongly advise you though to just go to the pet stores and see for yourself. They could be having discounts and Special sells around now. I know mine do.
about $2.

It varies greatly depending where you live.
Please do not buy from a pet store, but a breeder. You might pay $100 for the bird, $100 for the cage and $75 for food and toys.

a cockatiel from a breeder should cost you 50-100 dollars. a cage for a cockatiel from a pet store should cost about 60-70 dollars for a smaller wire cage with no stand, toys are around 7 to 15 dollars, food is about 8 dollars for a 4 pound sack.
