Whether pet stores care for the animals or not, don’t you thinking the best way of looking at it is that taking one home, you can give it a better life than it would have in the petstore. Even though it is great to strongly believe animals should live free in the wild, they aren’t going to. The birds that dont get purchased DONT get released back into the wild…so why not support responsible, caring, loving people who can give a bird or two a better life than in a pet store?

“to some extent they do but”. All pet stores care about is making money, they do not have a genuine interest in the animals welfare or treatment, that is why anyone can buy a pet, but at shelters they check up on you and see if you qualify. Shelters give you info and charge barely anything, pet stores go over the top at thousands.

You know what the budgie needs? The great outdoors in Australia where they BELONG. Yes everyone who said the cage isn’t big enough is right, popcorn you are wrong. I guess you wouldn’t listen to me but you should NEVER buy a pet from a pet store. I don’t care how much you “believe” it is humane they do not take care of the animals, to some extent they do but there’s multiple signs visible when you walk in. But in the back is where they dump animals that need treatment, which they never get

That cage is big enough for a budgie, don’t freak. The minimum size for a budgie cage, for only ONE budgie, should be a 18 x 18 cage. People buy single budgies for taming, for two budgies make it harder, they will communicate more with each other.
Before getting a budgie to be social, you have to gain trust with the budgie. Give it treats,try stroking it, teach it to step up. Show it the world.
