My aunt has a parrot that she refuses to give up,so I need advice on how to build a large(I want him to be able to fly) outdoor cage for him!!! It needs to be really sturdy because I have dogs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hi, I’m really glad to hear that you are trying to make sure the parrot has a good life.
Here’s a website with advice about building aviaries, written by someone who seems to build them for a living: http://www.backyardaviary.com/do_it_yourself.htm
Here’s a walkthrough of the building process of an aviary: http://www.javafinch.co.uk/build%20aviary/build%20aviary.html
Lots of advice on how to design and construct an aviary: http://www.bluequaker.com/Art-034.htm
Or you could always go out and buy one.
Also, I too have dogs, including a very large and strong one, and they very quickly learnt not to jump at the aviary. Plus they keep cats and such away, which is really good.
no idea lol…im sure there are some site on line that will help u ..i brought an avairy in the end for my lot…

You need 4×4s wrapped them in aviary cloth and set in concrete.
Do NOT leave any exposed wood as the parrot will destroy it.
You can go to a bird farm and get one remade that is made of hardware cloth and has a safety door. But you will still need to make sure that it has shelter and a way to get out of the wind, cold and rain.
You will find that it won’t be that difficult to train the dogs to stay away from the cage.

The best way you can do is call the fence company. And ask them to build one for the bird. I don’t know how much it cost. Look in the yellow pages for the telephone number in your area. Good Luck. P.S. On rainy days and winter cold days the bird haves to be in side again and in side at nights you don’t want the bird to get stress cause she or he is use too the inside already. I’m on your aunt side. but you do have a point also. But you have to think about your Aunt and the bird and how long they are use too each others. You can also buy a cage big enough for the bird at pet co.com. Anyway use your com sense. That if you are a really a animal lover. Best wishes for your Aunt and the Bird.
