I want a VERY SMALL bird to keep. Also are they easy too look after?
yes its ethical.. they are tamed birds, so if tyhe went out into the wild they would die.
i have been looking around for a bigger bird cage for my parakeet to fly around in a little bit but i havent been able to find anything in my price range does anyone know where i can find a cheap good quality bird cage just wondering

in the pet shops in the birds cages, there is some sort of mixture of small stone and crushed shells. What is it exactly, and where can you get it?What does it do ?
It’s called grit. It contains crushed stone and/or oyster shell. All pet stores that carry other bird supplies should have it. It’s a calcium supplement and it also supplies the gizzard with material to help grind food. As long as other calcium sources are provided, it’s not needed more than once every couple months. Too much can cause digestive irritation, especially in smaller birds.
well a couple a days ago my cat brought in a little bird, i dont know what kind it is but im thinking it might be a sparrow.
it cant really fly cause my cat pulled feathers out of it.
would it be ok to take care of it until it can fly, then release it.
we have many bird cages and even bird food.
what should i do?
The bird will need to go to a vet that sees injured wildlife or a wildlife rehabber in your area. both free for wildlife. Birds that have been caught by a cat are usually punctured somewhere on the body. If so then will need meds or it will die from infection that is deadly caused by a dangerous bacteria in the cats saliva. If not wounds and you are sure of it. Keep in dim lit room in a small cage with food and water and keep it warm. If there is a wing droop or any thing else that appears wrong bring to vet or rehabber as well. Best chance of it living would be to get to a wildlife rehabber who can get it any treatment it needs and evaluate it and then release when ready into wild again. I would also put a bell on your cats collar to warn wildlife or its presence.
I’m getting a small conure and I see a lkot of wrought iron bird cages for sale. Is that a good material? What are some other good materials for bird cages?
Stainless steel is good but very expensive. Buy a cage with powder coating so that it’s nto dangerous to your bird.
wrought iron sounds ok, but never buy decorative wood cages since a conure could EASILY chew through it in an hour and then escape. Wrought iron is ok for smaller conures, jsut be careufl. You get what you pay for.
